Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

This ROM process has been transparent, fair, and generous

I'm approaching my 15th year with the company supporting upstream operations. I have always been treated fairly, the work has been challenging, I have progressed according to my career development plan, and all of my supervisors have embraced the Chevron Way. I am PSG 23 and this is my first ROM. In 14 years of reviews I've received mostly 1s and 2+ and no 2- or 3s. I have a young family and feel this ROM process has been transparent, fair, and generous. I suppose I could work for a company that calls me into the office out of the blue and lays me off without 28.5 weeks of compensation and 6 weeks of paid redeployment. I don't understand all of the angst you all have.

Apparently the original poster, "Mr. or Ms. Strawberry Shortcake", has had a cake-walk little job at Chevron and has no clue about the dirty side of the company. When you have never taken a risk to leave your little warm cocoon, or should I say, "your little warm muffin pan", you think all is soft and sweet. Good luck ever making it in the real world. Yes, there are some good managers and work groups at Chevron, but Chevron is not the nanny that you think it is. Chevron is just as dirty as the next corp, and I say this having worked in five business units in four different countries. The poster who recommended that the original poster learn about "Stockholm Syndrome" was spot on.

Please don't try to sell chevron to the world, not know. So so many people have been hurt n mistreated. This company portrays the good not the bad, I also know the fear people felt, can you justify shingles, stress leave, mental abuse, bullying, discrimination, harassment , to the point of heart problems n mental breakdown. I am now fearful to mention two more items. I like most of us enjoyed the kindergarten years. And had great people around me, positive strong n hard workers. Great bosses n great teams.

The naivete of some of these people is truly alarming. The sheer fear of lawsuits and bad PR is going to skew to some degree the respective selection processes away from pure qualifications towards some sort of demographics, be it age, minority, favoritism, etc. The larger the number to be left standing, the larger the problem. And if the rumors of future ROMs are true, there is now a smaller pool of people heavily lighter on skills. These will have completed 2015/2016 PMPs where the all mighty bell curve must be observed, so now people are getting 2- and 3 that never had them before. The cycle repeats and now the company has several years of college new hires that are not touched and an even larger ratio of people with lesser skills. I suggest that the current situation has its roots in the previous downsizes. History repeats because morons don't know how to change it.

Lol at fair and transparent. The ROM has not started Jackhole. Wait and see the decisions. From the BU's that have just went through this it was friends of management who stayed. Nothing to do with qualifications. Being a Jackhole and not seeing the bigger picture in 15 years you will definitely not get layed off. My money is you get promoted.
