Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

This new hire young generation is really going to suffer.

A lot of us have been through the cyclical environment of the oil and gas industry. What makes it worse is consultants are not going to be touched as they are not considered G&A. The further away from the well head you are the more nervous or worried you should be. Consensus seems to be these lay offs have been focused on older and higher paid PSG's. Good luck tomorrow hope there is some news.

The Millenial KIDS have no clue what they are doing............ they still need to be wearing diapers. They forget who built the companies they work for, it's the Boomers who built the companies, not these stinking little whiners called Mallenaials....

121345 spot on! Some of the "survivors" were the only ones (PMP 1s, pun intended) left standing after previous "resource assessment exercises". Some of them are the best mentors ever while others won't even give an unproven new hire the time of day. 121424 you guys use EPOS too..haha.

Anonymous121274 if you already know who is being let go, can you offer us a little more details about the process? OR….. are you full of shit.

The boomers have all been through multiple layoffs. They have been through a winnowing process the youngsters can't begin to imagine. There are not a few Boomer Chevron employees who started their careers at other companies that no longer exist. Hint to the young people who whine about being forced to use a software system that isn't their favorite: Get over it and figure out how to use it to do your job. Then it'll be easier the next time you are forced to work with a new system.

And if somebody tells you your next paycheck will be in Midland, go to Midland. You'll learn a lot about the industry there, and you'll have some fun.

Not a millennial, but I agree with Anonymous121169. The same dumbasses that have mismanaged MCPs were young and inexperienced, now they are ancient, overpriced, and incompetently experienced. Boomers were so busy fighting the man and questioning authority they never questioned their own critical thinking. These days they are the authority and rail down hard on those that question. Time to retire, dig up your college bong, and let the rest of us pick up the pieces with the help of the older, knowledgeable mentors that still care about something other than getting to the Vanpool on time.

Gotta focus on retaining younger work force as possible as they are the future of the company....sadly, I know that some young poor performers will be at risk....also, employees that are at retirement age will probably be at high risk...just sad..good luck to everyone

No - this will create huge opportunities. Everybody who leaves now is just creating less competition for millennials when things get better in a few years.

Millenials are resilient. Horizons program continues. The kids are alright. They wont just survive, they will thrive. And make mistakes and drill dry holes and overestimate reserves and mismanage MCPs just like ya all did and are doing. Business as usual.
