Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

What quality means for QCT? That is the major reason why we are in this situation...

I have been working for QCT for few years now but I have never seen Quality standing up and forcing the Core teams to produce a device with quality. I don't really know what they do? How do they work? What influence do they have in the whole organization....0

A certain scapegoat that left QCT a few years ago over the 28 nm issue is a poster boy for what was wrong with QC. Today the problems lie with the "new' culture and the celebration of mediocrity. Generally this doesn't change without major house cleaning.

Agree with you all so why do we have a Quality group for? I don't see any technical abilities in Quality group to force core teams to deliver quality products....we should start firing this group first as "Quality" is something QCT does not delivers....

People that delivered the doomed 810 were promoted even after S dumped it.Rewarding failure comes at a moral cost. Why bother doing something right when a hack can get you forward?

It comes from the top. Have you ever heard any senior management emphasize quality in the product? It is all about pulling in schedules. People who were able to do it were rewarded no matter what quality they delivered. I see it as a failure of senior management. They think constantly shortening bring up schedules will make the company more profitable.

Look how often we are required to shorten the time given to develop/test a product.

Even with people working 60+ hours a week, corners get cut due to the schedule.

MR pushed for executuon at any quality. No chips = No bonus. He should be fired.

Lots of very formulaic teams naturally produce average sparse results.

No vision, poor leadership, no people skills. These are the qualities most tech leads have.

Thats why we screwed up n S810 and same happening with S820.......there are army of folks who manipulate things to get their money( bonus/rsu) and ship the bad product out only to tarnish qcom image in market.....bunch of greedy bastards
