Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

People to be escorted out

Considering all hands at unusual time of 3.30 pm, gives a impression that affected people will be escorted out during the day. And only remaining, unaffected people will attend the all hands. Otherwise, late all hands doesn't add up.

So no 2 months of notice this time ?

60 days and you will be given option to try to find another open IOS position. Qualcomm does not escort you out even when you at fired from a PIP unless you become aggressive and potentially a physical threat. They treat even fired employees with some respect.

Please notice that parking on the side of WT will be blocked, there are cones with the following information on it "Do not park on 7/22" I think they are planning something either additional security or something else...

Notices will have been given before any all hands unless they change from past process.

Escorted out? How can they get enough security personal to show the door to hundreds of employees on each building .... it does not make sense. We will be given enough days to cope and vacate.

I think all bloodbath happens before all hand, SM will give nice talk to please JANA and wall street and brag about his cost cutting measures in earning call. Some of us had similar experience when Carl Icahn was on similar spree for Motorola breakup...ED zander played same game, lied all the way to end, screwed employees royally.........hoping for better this time....

With the size of the expected layoff they will have to give all CA employees impacted 60 days notice. Look up the CA WARN act for more info

I've been through it 3 times before. You'll have 2 months to look for a new job while still on Q payroll.

@120351 you seem to be very well informed about the upcoming events. Are those interviews about the layoff?

Late all-hands meeting is due to press conferences (with CNN money, CNBC, etc) starting early morning. Don't make your own story.

Right OP, I was also wondering why the late hours for an all hands since those always get done before lunch. People layoff and scored out immediately since surreal to me! ... could it be that they just simply want to leave the AM for layoff meetings?

That is similar to what happened at Freescale 3 years ago.. Call in one by one, ask you to sign the paper, give 15 min. to pack up your stuffs and escort you out.. Then there will be all hands meeting for the unaffected.. Good luck!
