I left Q for a principal-engineer equivalent job about 16-30 months ago. At that time, the all-in salary was $222k-$230k according to glassdoor. That's all-in including salary ($179k), bonus($20k), stock($30k?). Trust me these numbers are accurate from about 12 self-reports on glassdoor. Now the website no longer gives this information. I earn more than that now, but I was very glad to be getting a promotion and more at my next employer.

Principal level, $219K base + $130K bonus??? With only 15 yrs, or less, experience? That can't be real. If it is, then Q really does need to make some changes!

Senior Engineer cost at QCA is about $275 fully loaded. This is the number accounting uses for their budget build up.

Glassdoor can be your friend here although it show salaries lower that others have posted

Principal Software Engineer

Base Salary: 189,844

Total Compensation: 211,754

For Manager add another 20K for the Base and probably another 20K for bonus/options.

It seems $500k/year in total overhead may not be out of line here.

At principal level : ~$219 base +~130K of bonus+rsu..11 yr in qcom+ 3 yr previoos work experience.

I'd say 500K total loaded cost is a bit exaggerated - would you care to break down your numbers (e.g., salary = xxx, benefts = xxx)

You are talking about around half million per year that is costing to the company (total overhead cost, from accounting standpoint); this is the kind of position, Q is trying to outsource unless position is key and cannot be outsourced.

Please ignore Anonymous120105 - it's a valid question regardless of layoffs... You are looking at 250K+ here...
