Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Rumor about SD820 still has overhead issue. If that's true, Q may need to layoff more soon. Anyone has info about this?

I am Anonymous120009 below. I don't want to scare anybody at this point. IC heatup at max operating frequency is a general rule of thumb. Overheating is a different story because IC protection circuitry will shut down the IC. I just double checked his comment, but he didn't specify 820. So I still believe that QCOM engineers have great capability to avoid overheating issue either by IC desing or by IC cooling.

I am not a QCOM employee. But I know a snapdragon-based smartphone development director of major Chinese smartphone vendor here in SD. I asked him the same 820 overheating question. And his answer was No consent or No denial. He told me that if 820 chip is clocked at max frequency of 3GHz as advertised, there is a good chance of overheating. However no conclusion yet. According to him, general conclusion will come around October.

There are NO heat issue with S820 itself. Only if its power turned on it gets smoked in few mili seconds. We already found solution to this problem and recommending customers to leave S820 powered off and add another Application processors to run OS. No worries!!!
