I was offered it.... turned it down, then got the boot a month later! Thankfully though, they gave it to me. Prior to that and just after the deadline to take the offer, my manager asked if I minded if he asked what my decision was. I told him that I turned it down. He then said "good. I wouldn't have anyone to backfill your position". That gave me some comfort until the day I was canned.
Yup, if you refuse the vsp offer, you take your chances of getting laid off and don't let the door hit you on the way out. I took it and I am happy I did. I pity the ones who refused the offer thinking they are safe and then get the axe. I spoke to HR before I left and was told that they were surprised at how many employees accepted the offer.
Free at last and loving it.
Not a one time only offer. HR in Houston said it is open ended. Has to be approved by the VP though
I asked the HR person before I accepted the 'package' and she said it was a one time only offer.

That would be my guess...I've seen it happen before...
I would say you get the middle finger, they already gave you their best offer with vso.
