Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Chevron targets employees

They do the minimum to not get caught in discrimination scandal. Is anyone here from the last BCG cuts? If so, who was targeted? Are you more at risk if you're engineering or a geoscientist? Or do they cut you if you're a planner or finance or HR rep? Seeking people's experiences. By the way, I'm asking about direct employees, not contractors.

Wow. Why did I get an engineering degree if all I needed for that salary was something in liberal arts

The most expensive people are under the microscope. High pay grades and under performing employees fall in this category.

what you guys mean 2+ or 2-, do you mean that people with higher pay grade levels are more likely to be cut???? how about those people with 40+ years experience...

I agree. They're all pretending like they know nothing, but the damage has been done already. Wish we little people could see the list!

Drafts are done. Bosses have their lists. Their bosses have their lists. Time to weed the garden (run the lawnmower over the garden).

I'm hearing the cuts are deep enough to go beyond retirement eligible, 2- & high psg. That's what we're all stressed about. It's gonna surprise a lot of good people who got 2s or 2+.

All you guys are over thinking this. If you're old, a high pay grade or a 2- then buckle your seatbelt

So are the stats public information somewhere?

That's obvious, but people can still share web links, information like the other sites do. Anonymously, of course!

There's a reason we're posting anonymous.

Anonymous105467 can you please direct me to where I can find these stats? The number of layoffs & demographics please? So many of us are in the dark & this information could be vital to us. Thanks.

Look at AMBU's ratio against age in the February layoffs. 70% of the employees laid off were over 40 and locals . They targeted locals and the older experienced folks. They just wanted employees that nodded their head yes.

It will be a bloodbath for those furthest from the wellhead and associated with work that is not base business. ETC research people better duck their heads.

Question is really what positions were affected in the mass restructure in the past, such as the one in downstream.

For example perhaps they lay off admins and OC employees rather than ax engineering and technical positions.

What do you mean targeting on position, not people? Thanks

Appears that the support groups are going to get hit hard. The BU's are reorganizing independently of project alpha.

For alpha what I understand is they are targeting positions, not people, unfortunately.

We'll know more next month.
