Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

More Promotions and more tasks

Daily we have the pleasure of reading about people being promoted yet we can't hire anybody + nobody wants to work at Mattel even if you are lucky enough to have an open rec. Today the announcement comes out with another VP in NAD. Are you kidding me? Soon one will be a SVP. How does that org that does nothing continue to grow at the top? Just like we have to justify our request for open recs. how about current leadership justify all the promotions and top heavy org. NAD is not growing enough to justify a marketing org with a SVP, 3 VPs, SR. Director, 4 or 5 directors. News alert for leadership...NAD marketing doesn't need a bunch of VPs and Directors they need people to execute retail plans oh wait that's customer marketing. Sales which is the frontline is dropping like fly's and who can blame them.

The same people promoting these people are the ones tasking us to reduce our headcount and to cut cost. Seriously, who is running the asylum right now. Each day I don't think I can be shocked by the ignorance of the leadership yet I am. Oh well, maybe we should hire a consulting firm and ask them what they think. Better yet, lets ask our start plan team. Even better how we ask the Magic 8 Ball although I bet that's how they made this last round of promotions.

This is typical in companies that are shrinking. Higher up folks are better connected and continue to be promoted and shieldef from layoffs. My 2 cents...
