This is speculative but the "smart money" is betting on a formal closure announcement early next week. It's pretty evident that "save Heald" didn't work and made matters even worse. The new student enrollment numbers just "are not there" to support keeping Heald open. EVERYBODY at the top is just "hanging around the water cooler", NO LONGER believing that Heald will be sold. It's only a question of either a teach out or a padlocking of the doors.

@497, 549, 560 but is referring to the probe launched in 2013 looking into accusations that CCI falsified placement numbers and graduation rates to manipulate stock prices. While the California AG lawsuit has had the most attention recently, the SEC probe is far from over (http://www.law360.com/articles/634755/sec-s-corinthian-colleges-probe-held-up-by-privacy-issues).
Right. So when I listen to NBR or read the Wall Street Journal saying in so many words "ABC corp is offering $X to buy XYZ" then ABC is violating SEC regs. Go back to school.
560, you couldn't be more wrong if you tried, jackhole
OP is a troll
@549. Go to school yourself. It's not insider trading to disclose that you are in the process of buying a company. Peddle the SEC nonsense somewhere else.
@497: Go to school, tard. It's called Insider Trading. They're not allowed to disclose any information about possible changes in a company that may or may not affect its stock market value. If they're not allowed to let others within the company know, they're definitely not going to let a mouth-breathing troll like you know. I'd tell you to google it but since you didn't do it before you opened the entrance to your vacuous skull the first time, I'll give you a helping hand.. because I enjoy helping the disabled. http://www.sec.gov/answers/insider.htm
As an aside and taken as an offer of proof that ONLY the profits are interested, then WASC which told Heald that the accreditation just won't transfer over without a full review. In other words, a profit might buy Heald but it won't be accredited.
Peddle the SEC nonsense somewhere else. There is NO SEC requirement saying that you can't disclose the name of prospective buyers or sellers.
@410: Actually, they're not, especially if they're for-profit. Right now all of the non profits have walked away, leaving only for-profits (if they're even still around). It has to do with the SEC.
We find out soon enough. For all we know, there may have never been a serious buyer for Heald in the first place. For those that peddle "The buyer's name is confidential nonsense" then be aware that potential buyers of companies are usually identified prior to purchase.
I think the OP is a troll, but I also think you guys who think everything is hunky-dory and that life will continue on as usual are naïve. The Save Heald campaign was a sign that things are pretty bleak. News reports in both Fresno and Sacramento have the school closing in a matter of days or weeks. Sure, some knight in shining armor could appear, but things in general look bad for the for-profit education industry. People aren't willing to take a flyer on it the way they were the last time Heald was sold.
Right. "The size of the new enrollment doesn't matter". If you believe that then I have a big bridge in Brooklyn for sale. The extreme example being obviously no new enrollments. Here is another reality check, Heald is almost out of operating capital and will have trouble making payroll.
The size of the new enrollment doesn't really matter - that won't cause the school to shut down, though it obviously would necessitate firings and some consolidation. Even mentioning new enrollments suggests that the OP doesn't really know shit. From what I understand, one of the sellers will incur the liability but find a way to have it heavily mitigated if a sale happens. We went through all this drama at the end of last year, and here we are again...
We will soon find out if OP knows what he is talking about.
Hey 349 you're right, this is the same jackhole who's been on here for months and thinks that their post will have a greater impact if they capitalize random words. This guy has no idea what he is talking about.
I love how this troll gives himself/herself away with the characteristic capitalization of random words. Thanks for playing, troll.
