Thread regarding Follett layoffs

A little curious...

I thought this board was for laid off Follett employess. Looks like there are many posting that are still employed. The massive lay off in November of 2013 we were told we could NOT post or say anything negative about the company. So as long as you are employed, you CAN...still collecting a paycheck and able to trash the company! Love! Gotta feel sorry for the masterminds running this outfit!! Can't control your employeed employees...Wow

I think you're right. I misremembered. It was one week for every year. I'm sorry for the inaccuracy.

With regard to what Merry L suggested, if they won't release information contained in files pertaining to you, contact the Illinois Department of Labor. You have a right to challenge information contained in files, and a right to add a rebuttal statement.

I am still employed by the company. My purpose for being here is to try and provide information based on more than simply hearsay or nay saying (though I'm guilty of letting sarcasm into my posts, a bad habit I'll admit.) I began to notice that news didn't always cross division boundaries which often meant major upsets would catch people unaware. My hope has been to create a back channel of communication that can provide others with a means of better preparation and composure for any future shakeups. I realize I am in violation of the policy and procedures manual in this regard as I could be accused of sharing confidential documentation with the outside world, but I also made a decision after the events of the last few years began to try and help others, if only to help my conscience. We are told so little, and this is deliberate. This site is the only one I know of that does not require traceable contact information, so I've adopted the pseudonym 'Blue' as a means of trying to establish some familiarity for others though I also realize having said that you'll start to see all sorts of troll rants with the pseudonym 'blue' attached by spiteful people. Hopefully for my sake I maintain a consistent narrative voice and you'll be able to pick out what is mine, and what either Edelman or the 13 year old mentalists as something else entirely.

Two weeks per each year! Well , I think we all got screwed more than we know. I received 1 week per year. They can't even be consistent with that or someone has their facts wrong!

You are free to write anything truthful. You can't disclose trade secrets or client lists or payroll information. If you post a negative opinion you should have facts ready back up your conclusion. For some reason you're not allowed to tell anyone that you were given two weeks pay for each year of service as severance. You should demand a copy of your employee file. Documents you signed, change of status documents, wage related documents are all available to you. You may be surprised as some of the fiction that is entered into your file. Once you find it, you can write about it , too.

Caution, however, management trolls will say some nasty things about your posts. They'll question your sanity and they'll call you pathetic. Wear that as a badge of honor.

I was laid off, but this board is anonymous. I post from my local coffee house using their wifi.

I love it! When I was terminated, I had all the stuff I wanted to take with me already packed. My manager tipped me off that the Director was about to can me. There are still some good people left at Follett.

That's right, I've posted my real name because I'm sick and tired of hiding in fear of this dumb a job. Fire me if you like don't give a rats a. I would rather speak out with courage and be fired so that I can move on with my life than to hide fearfully waiting for the inevitable.

See y'all later wcu bookstore. It's been a hella ride. Peace

But you do fear them Mr. 90325. Which is why everyone here is listed as anonymous. You do not want anyone to know who you because you are afraid of retaliation. FEAR

Joke was on them, I had a heads up on the lay off. I said goodbye to everyone on campus and was gone from "the office" for over an hour. Had my desk completely cleaned out and packed by the time I got my phone call from the gutless RM and spineless manager

Just because Follett tells you that you can't, doesn't mean it is true. There is nothing they can do about you posting on this board.

Ha! The joke is on Follett big time. They operate as corporate thugs and want employees and ex-employees to fear them as such. NOT!
