In all of my years at Fisher Price, I have never felt such a level of uncertainty. I can't believe that this is what has become of the company that I was once so proud to work for. I have a terrible feeling going into work this week, I can't imagine having to endure the entire week of waiting. The vacant look on everyone's faces says enough.

There is life after FP / MAT. It may just mean you have to go somewhere new. A new chapter eh?

pretty sure I'm more worried about losing my job...sucks to be stuck with more work, but hey you've still got your job....for now.....until we are in the same place again next year. sigh.
If you are worried about being laid off imagine also all the people stuck doing all the extra work with all the loss of expertise and staff wondering if they are going the next round. Sucks for all.
yikes, so scared for today....do I hide from HR all day? not pick up my phone all day? I haven't felt this way since high school and trying to avoid from the class bully. gulp
I'm putting off sleep for a while so I can delay tomorrow coming any sooner....

This site has become such a great resource in the last few weeks, thanks to everyone for your support and friendship. If I do let go tomorrow, it's the kind spirited people that work at FP that I will miss most. Praying for everyone tonight.
I'm not sure how anyone has been doing actual work this week knowing this is coming. Everyone I know is beyond nervous to go in tomorrow.
If you are included tomorrow, know that you're not alone, and it's not the end of the world. Don't do anything rash or say anything you might regret later - take the high road, and walk out the door with your head held high. I'm sure Mattel provides outplacement services as well as severance - take full advantage of all of it. Good luck.

NYC friends got hit today....starting with the vp of marketing....tomorrow is going to be the bloodbath at both campuses
While these are never wished for, I hope Mattel does this right - Really hoping that this round is one where the VPs and Directors who have been mediocre are part of the layoffs, as well as those who have been accountable for letting core brands slide for 3 years - there shouldn't be a "pass" on declining sales 3 years in a row, those people need to go. If there's not significant change in management, it's not going to stop the losses, and there will be more layoffs down the road.
Do it once, make it pervasive throughout the company and throughout the levels (up to the C-Level) so that when it's done, people can go back to doing their business. Let them know that all levels of management are held accountable for their failures - not just shuffled around to another group.
Heard round 2 is happening at HIT offices today. Sounds like FP EA & FP NYC tomorrow 3/12. Any word on ES?

I heard around twenty at hit let go today (not sure of number there of employees). Mattel and fp on thurs. Expect a lot.
Layoffs have happened all afternoon at HIT offices starting at 2:00, heard that there are "dozens" of people gone....

HR? HA! With the person who will be handing out the layoffs at FP EA, these people have no soul. I think we all know who this phony cackling blowhard is.
I heard 3/12 morning for F-P EA. This is the worst time I've seen here. For the past 3 or more years - it's been an environment of fear. The last band of early retirements offered to many long time Fisher-Pricers months back was handled very poorly by HR. If you weren't a VP you didn't get a celebration even if you had been here for 20, 30, or more years. It feels very wrong in my opinion. This time early retirees get a token 'retirement party' as part of the package. Yay. I don't see them putting smiles on everyone's faces with another 'Ice Cream Social' out in the parking lot. I maintain my opinion that HR is exactly the opposite of what they claim to stand for.
I hope they do start tomorrow. I'd rather know what's gonna happen sooner then later. Waiting until Thursday is not going to be fun.

Beware they may start tomorrow Tuesday March 10 - don't forget they need to go through all 3 offices in ny - east aurora, New York City then close the hit offices....not sure what day is where....
