Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Are we all beginning to benefit from greater energy and focus throughout the company from our new game plan?

I must have missed the meeting. Can some one tell me if a specific game plan was communicated to all fellow Mattel employees beyond the obvious....the notice that your services are no longer required. The excerpt below was taken from a Buffalo Business News article over the weekend. - "The Board and management team are focused on achieving a rapid turnaround at Mattel and we have a clear game plan for what needs to be addressed,” Sinclair said. “This company has a powerful portfolio of global lifestyle brands with untapped IP potential, extraordinary toy design and development expertise and unmatched global sales and supply chain capabilities. By moving quickly to reduce bureaucracy that has slowed decision making and diffused accountability, we are already beginning to benefit from greater energy and focus throughout the company.”

Who gives a hoot!! I worked there and quite personally the company is disappointing to begin with so what's happening to them now is well deserved!! I only hope it gets worse minute by minute for all of them--they deserve every bit of what's happening to them and then some. When you're not fair to hard working employees when they are there and grant them opportunities as opposed to hiring others externally, believe me you've got it coming. Watch, the rest is yet to come!

@88270: A perfect observation. There is no game plan, never has been. Mattel is reactive, not proactive. Throw a dart and let's see who the next CEO will be! Dickson? Kilpin? Bigfoot?

Clear direction? Give me a break. If they were reducing the bureaucracy they wouldn't of let go so many people that actually did the work. You would remove the multiple approval processes, get rid of some of the Directors and VP's that have nearly no staff under them. You would get rid of the SVP's that have run the brands into the dirt and who protect their favored people or relatives that have no business of having a job there. Mattel needs to ditch PLM, kill the whole NAD/GBT model of way too many marketing people, and fire the people that brought in those concepts as well as Project Propel that was a disaster. And the biggest thing they need to do is STOP trying to keep the margins so high that Mattel cannot make good toys.
