Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

The Financial Engineers Cometh!

I, for one, welcome with open arms the Too Big To Jail crooks at BofA and their shiny 4 billion dollar credit line. Maybe this means a dividend hike! That would be an extra hard slap in the face to the people just let go. Next thing you know, Carl Icahn is at the door wanting to spinoff QCT

Sounds like I need QC accountants to help with my tax planning.

Yes, QC has lots of money offshore, but there a couple of problems. First, wiring that money back to US will trigger huge tax penalty. Second, China, where a good chunk of QC money sits, restrict moving fund out of country. So, if QC ever need emergency money, it can only get from loan.

QC has tons of money, but lots offshore. Maybe dividends are paid out using domestic cash. Maybe this is just like a short term low interest credit card. Not an expert. Probably sounds worse than it is. But it is always going to be shareholder first

I thought taking on debt is a bad thing, and could lead to lay offs. So why is the big Q doing this? I thought that The Q was always very fiscally respinsible. Please explain in laymans terms.

Touché. But at least 75% of the other threads aren't directly about layoffs. I just truly hope QC is letting people go while taking on debt to pay shareholders. That would be too funny.

This forum is for layoff. Not financial stuff. Go away please!
