Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Halperin is a HACK!

Once again Halperin's article does not reveal all the facts. For example, many states have a process called "State's Court of Claims". Guess what, there is no jury and liability is strictly limited. This is political arena that state colleges resolve disputes with students.

Nothing personal against him. He just needs to balance out his reporting. There are big issues in all of education today. However, he has a very slanted lens to his reporting that is influenced by his liberal ideology. This is even further endorsed via his involvement in various other interests. Meaning, he has large conflicts of interest that he very seldom discloses.

Camden Kid -- thank you for proving my point. If most people know that the system is rigged, and if liability is being limited, what is Halperin complaining about? Should he not be attacking the ivory pillars of education as well? Would not these state courts be the basis as to why Zenith applied this model? I do not hear much from him around the those two points. Nor do you hear him discuss the traditional college system today at all. The traditional college system (both private and state) is a disaster and he is well aware of that. However, he stays away from that argument due to his political lens.

779 ... your comment has nothing to do with the post at all. However, I assume that what you are trying to state is that the GOP aligns with the FP industry in the same manner that the Dems have sold their sole to the non-for-profit space and union votes. Correct?

A the OP provided -- Halperin miss represents facts to further his position/argument. His key point -- that helps further his other points -- revolves around his argument that students will not be provided with due process as they are with other non-for-profit institutions. This is not a valid statement -- and furthermore -- is not truthful. Other points to consider -- maybe RS and BK are only short term highers to assist with the transition. Is that not common in most business acquisitions?

I was in the room in 2010 when Peter Waller basically apologized to everyone in that room about the need for CCi to start aggressively supporting Republican candidates financially because - to loosely quote him here - 'the Democrats are refusing to play ball'. Before then, Republicans really didn't have much of an opinion on the for-profit sector. But now, after several millions of dollars have lined their pocket, they love it.

@Halperin is a HACK!--so what's your point, that states are also corrupt by limiting liability? I think most people know that the system is rigged. It's funny that you call Halperin a liberal for his investigative work, yet Corinthian Colleges took billions in Title IV funds and GI Bill money with limited oversight. FYI: Government spending without transparency or accountability is something that so-called conservatives and liberals have been doing together for decades.

So are his other points off-base? Ya' Halperin has an opinion, but much of what he wrote is factual and indisputable. Your case is rather flimsy given you address so little of what Halperin wrote. How about a simple test? Answer this question: Are Rick Simpson and Bob Kenyon NOT employees of Zenith with the same titles they had at CCi?
