Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed colleagues, and our diligent friends at Verizon,
I stand before you today to advocate for a groundbreaking, revolutionary strategy to ensure Verizon’s success in the coming year: we, the members of the Communication Workers of America, must work less.
Yes, you heard me right! Less is more. Productivity, after all, isn’t about how much time you spend at work—it’s about spiritual alignment with the company's goals. And what better way to align our spirits than with extended coffee breaks, longer lunch hours, and perhaps even nap pods in the breakroom?
Let’s consider the science here. Studies show that overworked employees are tired, stressed, and sometimes forget to plug in the very wires that make the network function. If we work less, our minds will be fresh, our hands steady, and our hearts full of unhurried passion for the job.
### Why Less Work Equals More Success for Verizon
-
Quality Over Quantity:
When we work less, we can savor every task, like a fine wine, ensuring perfection. No more rushed installations or hastily written reports! With fewer hours, we’ll cherish every moment we spend kind of working.
-
Morale Boost = Profits Boost:
Imagine the morale boost when we tell employees they can clock out early every Friday—or even every day! A happy workforce leads to happy customers. And we all know happy customers are the key to Verizon's revenue streams.
-
Efficiency through Innovation:
If we work less, we’ll have time to think about important things, like how to work even less. Innovation thrives in leisure. Do you think groundbreaking ideas were invented by people chained to their desks? No! They were invented by people daydreaming about freedom.
-
The Competitive Edge:
Other companies may foolishly push their workers to the brink. But not us. Verizon will be known as the company whose employees are so well-rested, they radiate tranquility through every fiber-optic cable.
### A Call to Action
So, here’s our proposal for 2024:
- A four-hour workday.
- Paid 3-day weekends, every weekend.
- Quarterly Wellness Retreats to recharge (preferably at a beachfront resort).
- And, of course, full pay and benefits because...well, we’re worth it.
Together, we can set a bold example for the industry. Let Verizon lead the way in proving that a less stressed, less working workforce is the ultimate competitive advantage.
Thank you, and remember: the less we do, the better Verizon will be!
