Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

VSP ( 3 Months later)

I’m one of “Old Dogs” who took the VSP in September. I wasn’t looking or trying very hard and was able to secure a new, more interesting job within 3 months. The new job has comparable benefits, a 30% pay reduction, but less stress, International travel and other trade offs that seem digestible. Verizon was an amazing ride and I hated to leave, but the VSP, double dipping salary wise and the excitement of new challenges - make the uncertainty of a “nudged layoff” more tolerable. For those contemplating a planned or unplanned exit, from my experience all isn’t gloom and doom in the job market, especially for someone who is young, technical, motivated and open minded. Good luck to those leaving the Mothership this afternoon.

To many legacy Verizon people think they are the only game in town. What they do not realize is Verizon used to pay higher than other Telecoms. Now, they pay equal or below. Hans is taking you for a ride. He is a great cheerleader.

He came back to this thread to let people know there are other opportunities outside of VZ and as noted before, then is life after VZ. Good for you for sharing....

Why still come here? Once you're gone, be gone already...

Just started looking 1 month ago. No luck yet, but all it takes is 1. If I had a security clearance, it would be easy
