Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Harassment

My boss is harassing me, basically trying to fire me while I am on medical leave. Who do I contact about this? HR doesn’t seem to care and my relations manager doesn’t respond. Thinking about going to the relations managers boss.

@avh+1w2032si is spot on. HR is not your friend. Your only option is to hire your own representation at your own cost, outcome be-danm. Ya better happy a documented story to tell.

Once we had a great, smart, hard working assistant. She got bumped. A few weeks later, the new person was gone out on medical. This cycle went on over and over until she finally retired never being at the job long enough to be trained.

As a Manager, my boss instructed me to follow, visit, call, drive by, harass my employees. When I came down with a illness that required hospitalization, my boss and his boss showed up and informed me that "managers" don't take sick leave. They take vacation time to which I stated NO. I'm not wasting my vacation. After a few weeks of hospitalization I guess they didn't code it as upon returning to work, I still had my few weeks of vacation. They tried to make my time tough after this so I waited them out and they moved on.

I have a heart valve issue and have unfortunately had to use disability more than once. Sedgewick is impossible to deal with so get ready for a rollercoaster. However, You ALWAYS have recourse. Do not give up. Submit appeals, and get an attorney stat. Document everything - emails, phone calls, when paperwork is sent. Keep on your medical team to make sure they are not one second late with any paperwork due to Sedgewick. Don't travel or do any activities which are physical. They will follow you and they will send you in person to their own physician. When I had a baby, they asked me to prove it in order to be approved for disability - huh? Depending on your age - Stankey made a HUGE error on the employee 23Q2 earnings call. He admitted age was used in determining who would be laid off. AT&T will keep decreasing the amount they pay you over the first 6 months of disability until it's $0. FMLA will only hold your job for 12 weeks. Keep asking and asking and asking if your job is protected. Only ask in writing. Don't go one day past the 6-month mark out or you are toast. Overall, there isn't much they can do. If they fire you, they are begging for a lawsuit. There are so many things wrong with the disability process - get an employment lawyer and one who has gone against AT&T already - sue them for age discrimination (over 40), discrimination against workers with disabilities, hostile work environment (for calling, which they are NOT allowed to do - only Sedgewick can talk to you), and so on. There are LOTS of attorneys who have sued AT&T and won - but the process is slow, and you absolutely are fired immediately. Bright side - if you win, they may be forced to pay you punitive damages, pain & suffering, loss of salary, and loss of potential income.

The last time a co-worker was in the hospital with brain cancer she was contacted by her manager after some period of time to state that if she did not return to work by (certain date), her job would be filled with another person and if/when she return she would have to apply for another position. Almost like she was fired, but could interview for another job.

She came back - sick as a dog.

She passed away on the job a few months later.

Stink: Let's face it. You just aren't a good fit for the role anymore and I need you to leave so Habib can have your job.

Whatever you do, don’t call HR or legal. They don’t represent you. They represent T.

Get an employment law attorney and consult them.

If your Mgr has the documentation showing they have made the necessary contacts as far as keeping you informed of your status it’s going to be hard for you. You also need to show that you have turned in the documentation needed to possibly extend your disability. If it has gotten to this point then Legal and HR have already agreed to it.

Translation....You've overextended your leave. Received numerous return to work letters. And your manager is doing their legally required due diligence to contact you and inform you that your job may be in jeopardy.

Management and HR conspire to get rid of people with critical medical conditions. They are so corrupt that they try to force people back to work that are on their death bed. I have witnessed this many times.

Stink needs this same treatment! POS!

Your manager has already spoken to HR and they agree you need to go. You have no recourse. Start looking for a new job.
