Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Its Not That I Am Lazy, I Just Dont Care

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwfNjGxa_D4

Here is the reality, they can force you into the office but they cant force you to work hard, COLLABORATE, be dedicated, engaged or whatever nonsense they dream up.

Think about the insanity: You work at a communications company that wants you to...

  • Drive to work every day
  • Sit at a non-dedicated desk
  • Doesnt have a phone
  • Taking teams calls with people in remote locations

Hey dikhead, they want you to drive to work everyday in another State. Understand now why your comment is a bit$h comment? Now STFU and go kiss that smelly hairy a$$ that has turned your lips chocolate brown. This place su-ks forever and is permanently stained with the stench of Stank, the lies of Legg, and the discrimination of DEI. Not a single redeeming quality because the culture has been decimated and will never be revived.

Bro calm down. Are you driving to another state? This is about going from 3 days rto to 5 and you know it. The hub city moves have largely been done

“ Think about the insanity: You report to an office for work 5 days a week, and then a pandemic ensues, requiring mitigation strategies, and once the pandemic ends, people think the mitigation strategies shouldn't end.”
That’s an incorrect assumption. Most were virtual pre-pandemic and had been virtual for many many years. Now they decided to 180 and make everyone relocate back to an office. Fair would be we go back to pre-pandemic status, meaning if you were virtual, hybrid or in office pre pandemic, we go back to that. Or, here’s a thought, you let your VP, AVP, or Director decide how best their team should work. Most of us have nobody in the office and we are on teams calls all day long with people all over the globe. Those are the issues everyone is having.

I am a newer hire, I am planning on leaving after the new year.

I am surprised at how many people have put up with the layoffs for years. The constant stress of whether today will be the day they pull your number. That stress on your body is very bad for you.

I can't wait to see the tension amongst co-workers when one gets away with more non-office time then the other.

While it might be "nice" if AT&T continued the mitigation strategies, it is insanity to suppose that AT&T is "obligated" to continue those strategies.

What's insanity is that someone hired having a virtual job or not in a hub should be suddenly required to relocate or lose their job.

“Do not "retire" or quit. Make them fire you. They have to pay unemployment benefits if they fire you or a severance if they lay you off.”

No unemployment or severance if fired. Not worth my sanity to wait on some possible layoff that I would likely not get picked for anyways. Sure it would be nice, but the cons outweigh the pro. Tired of working way too many hours and now the tracking in office and 5x, yeah I’m done. Time to move on.

Anyone posting they are going to quit is a planted post.

This site is already highly suspect for removing entire posts, censoring posts they disagree with and sharing your personal "log data" with who knows, the Stink.

Be very careful what you saw on here. I got my severance and do not need AT&T so they have zero power over me.

I did care, now I don’t. Tone deaf management. Therefore, time to retire. When it gets so bad that you just can’t stomach it any more, time to go while I still have my health and some life left.

Couldn't agree more with the OP... Nothing this company does makes any sense and I'm only here at this point for the paycheck. I do what's required, nothing more given that's even more than they give most people.

Luckily coming into an office is not an issue for me, the problem is more about sitting in an open space where I hear more about what someone I don't even know who happened to get a "cube" next to me for the day, did over the weekend or what sickness someone in their family has. The few people I work who aren't in the building or overseas, I usually can't even find without even calling them first because who knows where they are sitting on a given day.

How did you survive before covid? I have had to work 5 days a week all along so I am trying to find a reason to have sympathy. Please help.

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

What do I mean?

Well, if the company you work for repeatedly demonstrates that they do not care about their employees then the logical response from the overwhelming majority of your workforce is going to be less dedication…

What’s dedication?

Working out of hours because you know it helps the company.

Working through illness

Sacrificing personal time for your job

Not going to your kids sporting events bc you have to work.

Going above and beyond to help others.

Instead of doing what is best for your direct team because you feel obligated to the people on your team, you’ll remember it’s just your job and ultimately they don’t care about you so why care about them.

Now take these examples of how most of us used to operate, multiply it by 150k employees and subtract it from the output you’re going to see going forward.

This is the result of the culture our leadership has fostered.

And even if you did care, that still won’t stop them from laying you off as I have witnessed several times
