To those who got let go, I am so sorry. I know a lot of you worked very hard to get to where you are - long hours, weekends, etc. and this is the treatment you get. I'm not going to say "let this be a lesson to not overwork" because clearly that culture came from within THIS company and you clearly tried your best to stay afloat and even that was not enough. It had to be random for some. I've seen top performers or the only skilled person get cut from teams which leads me to believe it was random or a numbers game for many who were let go and not about performance. I hope you find somewhere that values you soon.
To those who are still here and keep saying "let this be a lesson to look for somewhere else while you still can", a lot of us have been doing that for weeks if not months. It is a hard market. I know knowledgeable amazing people who have worked here who were RIF whilst they were working hard here and still applying outside. It is very hard right now, we are all trying. This was not our wake up call, it just made it a better reason to want to leave. There is no loyalty on my end to this company. I have wanted to leave for the better part of a year and have not been able to get an interview. I don't stand out, I am a normal contributor with less than 10 years experience and I'm competing with Ex-meta, Ex-amazon, etc. and Fiserv no longer even gets near that status. All to say, we know. We are trying to get out.
To the leaders/HR people reading (we know you are - you have said it before in recorded calls!) - it is very shameful to get on here and say "grow up, this is corporate america". You were once an individual contributor (possibly) who if you were in this situation, you would react the same way if you were let go. We are human. Maybe some of you got your job because you have the same last name as a previous SVP who handed you the job, but most of us have to fight for a job and for you to come on here and say get over it is disgusting. Also, saying "this is not big brothering" - it quite literally is, so just embrace that is the direction you want this company to head in. Having to bring up the "battle in the courts" that led to this monitoring does not make it seem any better it just makes it seem worse - why did it go to court in the first place? Doesn't that mean that someone challenged the ethics behind it? hmmmm...
Also, letting go people for not being in office while they are salaried implies that they are not salaried, but rather hourly employees, does it not? yet you don't pay overtime which unfortunately since so many people are petrified are losing their jobs, have been putting in OT just to be let go this week. I'm sure you've done your homework to legally get away with this, but that is despicable.
HR, you should do a better job at looking out for your employees and I don't just mean the way this was delivered but overall, do your job. People within multiple orgs have reported people (who are still here and some just got promoted!) for legitimate reasons such as harassment and offensive (based on s-x/race) comments and nothing is done.
