Expect the critics to say all the numbers are great and totally accurate on January 21, 2025.

The "black swan" could just be the establishment admitting they were lying about jobs numbers, inflation, consumer debt, etc. All of that bad data coming into the light might shock the system and lead to a huge market correction.
Let's be cynical and say that people already know the government has been lying. The massive debt accumulated by corporations, government and regular Americans will be our own undoing. It will lead to a liquidity crisis, stagflation and mass joblessness. I can easily imagine it leading to a fall in asset prices (commercial/residential real estate, recreation vehicles, automobiles) but inflation of food, fuel and other essentials prices.

And let's not blame the unions for responding to inflation when their contracts end. Division is not healthy. Let's work together as Americans.

While I'm not saying it's the fault of unions, but these record union contracts bring back very eerily similar settings like the 2007/8 economy. Shortly after that event, concessions had to be made.

What makes it more sizeable this time around, was that numerous companies and unions around the country were asking for the same. I'm not saying that's right or wrong, everyone wants and more money and deserved to keep up with inflation, but not only does it look very similar as 2008, the participates were much larger in size this time around.

Let's hope that pattern of a sequential decline doesn't repeat. If it does, it would be notably worse than 2008, black swan even or not.

"I say ship the work overseas"

Sub-par trolling on a board where people are worried about their jobs.
Same energy as someone who hurts small animals for kicks.

No lol it's the unions fault for demanding the high wages. You think you own the company. The shareholders own the company and you work for the company not the union. I say ship the work overseas where you can get a better product for a fraction of the cost and you don't have to deal with the greedy union thugs trying to bury the company in the ground.

Pay attention to where the other 93 percent of the price tag goes.

Labor accounts for 7 percent of the cost of a car. So neither union or nonunion labor is the cause of expensive cars.

Imo the bigger picture is being missed here. It’s not the unions fault for wanting a descent wage for their work. And it’s not salaried’s fault for not joining a union either. These layoffs, at record profits BTW, are because of the Senior Leaders at GM and other companies taking every last effort to please their shareholders at any cost. Union or non-union, no one is safe when our leaders are beholden to Wall Street with little to no safe guards for workers. It’s the way the workforce is treated these days and imo it needs to change.

gotta pay them hefty union wages somehow. goodbye! So much for the union being for the little guy. Beyond that the union is the reason vehicles are so expensive. YOU are the reason most of America can't afford a brand new truck and I hope you all get laid off and the company moves the jobs overseas so we can get a better product for half the cost.
