Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

They don’t care.

When it comes to RTO:
Don’t bother even bringing these topics up because to the Big Kahuna, they are ignored. This is how it has been addressed for the last two years.

They don’t care about your 2 -4 hour commute. (They will ignore that altogether.)

They don’t care that you will threaten to quit. (They’ll just make some other schmoe double up or get a contractor.)

They don’t care that you have to pick little Hobart up from daycare by 6 pm. (They’ll refer you to the Onestop site for the help finding a caregiver.)

They don’t care if you have a disease and need life-saving infusions once per week and are sick after. (They will tell you to take sick time and FMLA - which they will deny.)

They don’t care that the cost of your commute is taking food off the table and that you won’t get a cost of living raise to cover it. (They’ll say to look at the commuter benefits - which only work in major cities.)

They don’t care that your Dad is going through kidney failure And his caregiver can’t get to your home before you have to leave for work. (They will say take caregiver leave, which won’t be enough to cover every day, or look at the find a caregiver benefit.)

They don’t care about why. (The only answer you will ever get is that we are better together.)

Seating? (“We are investing millions in bringing our offices back to where they should be.)

People talking on speakerphone on conference calls or standing around talking loudly in the office while you are trying to have a conversation with a client? (Take an PLE course on office etiquette.)

There. Saved you the trouble.

"This will increase to $1,128 per week, or $58,656 per year, on January 1, 2025. Employees who earn less than these minimums will lose their exempt status and become eligible for overtime pay."

Hate to break this to you, but employers CAN track EXEMPT employee hours. Most do not, but there is no RULE that employers cannot track your hours. T already spoke to their lawyers and I dont think you can win the lawsuit on this one.

i am guessing top performers already make more than this and will remain exempt”
Check again office workers are classed as professional employees. The minimum comp
is $151,164.

The rule will also increase the total annual compensation requirement for highly compensated employees (who are not entitled to overtime pay under the FLSA if certain requirements are met) from $107,432 per year to $132,964 per year on July 1, 2024, and then set it equal to $151,164 per year on Jan. 1, 2025.

“They changed the terms of employment.”

This is exactly what happened. Looking forward to the exempt employee rule change at the federal level starting in Jan (look it up - probably to best thing Biden did in office). They are going to be scrambling to fix things or they will have to start paying all the office folks OT as we will not be considered exempt any longer. Tracking my hours and treating me like non-exempt, better break out the checkbook because all those after 8hrs in office emails, calls and texts are going to start costing you min 2hrs of OT. Looking forward to finally getting the pay increase that most of us deserve.

Starting July 1, 2024, the minimum salary required for exempt employees is $844 per week, which is equivalent to $43,888 per year. This will increase to $1,128 per week, or $58,656 per year, on January 1, 2025. Employees who earn less than these minimums will lose their exempt status and become eligible for overtime pay.

"They don't care" has been the mantra for the company for years, on every topic. Everything boils down to reducing headcount.

40-50% salary pay cut, move to hub and 8hrs a day in office.

The lazy will quit. The remaining will resent.

Managing the decline of a company.

Thank Goodness Musk and Vivik are going to bring Government Employees back to the office or be fired.

Has everyone heard anything formal? We have nothing yet and depending on which manager you speak to, you'll get a different start date to when the madness starts. Typical the way this company is run.

They changed the terms of employment. Pray it doesn't change any further.
