How likely is that there will be Humana layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

@e64 they already announced the planned RIFs in Jim's email. He literally said a reduction in Head Count and Associate Benefits. Not sure why they are still dancing around that question. The only questions now are "when?" and "who?"

This company is unethical and no integrity. Firing people coming off of FMLA, so many shady things they do needs to be exposed.

Was just on Pacific Southwest Town Hall and during Q&A it was asked if there were any planned RIFs for 2025. Instead of answering they said that's all the time we have for today and ended call. The answer to that question was the obvious lack of response by leadership.

Layoffs happen all the time. The only questions are the size—one or two people versus larger groups—and if you’ll be impacted this time. No one is safe from a layoff.

I worked there for almost a decade.. layoffs start year 2.. and happened annually after that. usually in the fall. some were massive. others just certain areas.. two things you CAN count on humana for is lack of transparancy and layoffs..

I wonder if they are also just not approving backfills, either. I left several months ago and I don't think they got approval to replace me, I haven't seen my position posted at all. (and honestly this was not a surprise, I was worried about getting laid off the whole time I was in the role, so that just confirmed my fear). If you look at the jobs posted right now, there's only about 1700 and the majority of them are clinical so I am betting they are avoiding any major layoffs by not filling roles of people leaving unless they are 100% business critical, and I had heard before I left that turnover numbers overall were getting pretty high.

So to answer the question about my coworker who got layoff today, it was a zoom meeting, then right out of the gate they said a member of your has been laid off due to organization changes, the person has 60 notice and severance and PTO time they can use and that was it . They said any questions ok meeting is over. And nobody said anything !

To the poster that indicated someone on their team was laid off- what department? Were they given 60 day notice and severance? A few years ago our department laid 2 people off. They were both given notice end of October and told they had to work until December 31. It was really cr-ppy especially when other departments laid off at the same exact time and didn’t force their people to work out their 60 days!

So I think people are really confused about the term “mass layoffs” and whether that’s happening or not. Humana can say until they’re blue in the face that there are no mass layoffs - that does NOT mean each department is not looking at their budget and cutting people. You can still very well be laid off even if the company as a whole isn’t laying anyone off.

I am thinking they will make those decisions after enrollment shows declines in membership.
