Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Just a guess about Level 3+ ratio

I know lots of layoffs and changes but my guess based on observation is the ratio between levels 3+ and 1&2 has actually increased - just not nearly enough attrition at the L3+.

What say you? Am I correct or not.

My favorite is the L4s with less than 10drs none of which are people managers and come into meetings like they are a god. there are ADs doing more work than them

What does it serve demoting a Level 3 people Manager to a Level 2 people Manager basically doing the same job. They will make the same salary, lower bonus and no stock options but I can assure you they will definitely experience an attitude adjustment which will cost T in the long run. I have seen it happen many times before and no one is better off for these type games. Just get rid of the dead weight but do not mess with good, dedicated hardworking managers as there are not many left.

Some of those people managers should not stay as peoples managers.

"My org is losing 10% of level 3s and a lower % of level 2s because we are getting rid of contractors."

I don't see how that follows.

Dozens of L3's and L4's in my org demoted a level, mostly individual contributors who actually don't manage anyone. People managers were largely spared of demotion.
