Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Digital First… Not.

When COVID shut down buildings and employees USED OUR CONNECTIVITY PRODUCTS to not only maintain BAU but invest in automation skills and agile project management practices, we celebrated that accomplishment with the, “Yeah, hey, it’s not you it’s me” email from Stankey. The 3,000 Directors and above are not equipped to lead teams of digital employees. They are only equipped to show up in an office and click on “Disappointment Dashboards” and blame employees for not living their designation. But CRE sold off a ton of buildings, only to scramble to release buildings, and now apparently re-retrofit buildings again. Why not just outsource every last job to Croatia and India and let a competent person run this utility company? I kicked off the “Design Thinking” course on LinkedIn Learning 200 times so I could shop at Costco, as one does when they work at AT&T, and it occurred to me in the opening statements that you need to design a company around the value that the company generates. So, a coffee shop owner should understand like coffee industry. But why doesn’t AT&T embrace leaders who understand connectivity? Maybe as a customer how they manage teams in the digital age. Maybe take a LinkedIn Learning on it. Maybe give Costco gift cards to managers who successfully demonstrate that they can lead their team wherever the team sits. Goobers!
