Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

"Activity Based Work" spaces = FAIL

Not sure why facilities is doubling down on this activity based work space bs.

Do you know anyone who likes it??

It doesn't work for us. Those on campus need a desk, a home base. Not a junior high locker. Sooooo much time is wasted trying to find somewhere to work.

Oh you poor babies. How about you work and stop letting the marketshare go down the toilet. This is exactly what wrong with nike, all the cheap labor was left and all they want is their daily trophy. 😂

Today in JR was BAD.
Shame on you BOE and GPS.

We don't want lunch and coffee. We want our own desks.

Before they even started flushing money on this, companies were already moving away from it. It’s not productive. You need to be able to sit with your team, and for cross functional teams working on a variety of projects, there needs to be a reduction in visual and auditory distractions to allow people to concentrate on their work. When your team is dispersed all over the place, you’re listening to someone else’s conference call 2 feet away, and folks are camping in the conference rooms all day, it is not a productive environment. A lot of work happens by simply being able to walk over and ask a question. This is awful and stupid, and one of the most devaluing things ever. We’re not cattle, don’t treat us like that. If it’s about fitting in more desktop spaces - just admit it, don’t keep spewing the BS about how this is good or productive because it is absolutely not.

Don't forget it's not even the actual corporate approach at WHQ. I mean, if you work in supply chain, yes, you win an activity based working area, but if you work in product creation or innovation, well you win an assigned desk. Yet another way our culture has eroded where internally there are groups that are haves and groups that are have nots. Don't complain though, because HR won't listen anyway.

@yce+1va2raDb ABW space just started after covid in the newly-remodeled buildings. Disaster from day 1.

Looking at you BOE and GPS.
Let's have people SUPER REMOVED from the work and daily life making these decisions.

This does not help productivity

They promote this bs every few years. It's just work for them to show "value" and it ultimately fails. Same thing with HR rolling out some bs new CFE process every year.

I love working at a desk, going to a 30 minute meeting, coming back to my "neighborhood" and having nowhere to work, then spending another 15 minutes trying to find somewhere to work. It's my favorite.
[Sarcasm, of course]
