Thread regarding Global Payments Inc. layoffs

Xmas riff

Looks like McKinsey has another gift for US based tech at Global.
Happy Holiday

So when we start cutting the contractors next week, who do they expect to pick up their work? My team is already stressed and being asked to hit a metric that is not realistic for our BU. Support can not continue like this. I swear, if I have to hear the line "all the cuts are done " one more time from our bullsh-t artist of a senior leader. You wont even stand up and tell people to come to the office. Then we come up excuses as to why our promoter score is tanked. Open your eyes. Half your team is off shopping or playing video games . The other half is stuck picking up the slack. You want to make a cut, start there. Instead, you will tell managers if you let some of your team go, thats how we can move you to the next level. No thanks dirt bags . I will stay where I am.

Can’t believe Global would be associated with such a company. Oh wait they are just as bad. All about money no matter who it hurts.

It su-ks for the contractors, but, by definition contracts don’t get renewed all the time. That’s the nature of the beast, unfortunately. Merry Christmas and wish them all well!

Not renewing contractors makes sense. Laying off employees now makes no sense. Layoffs only happen when we're trying to hit a number and cutting now would have no impact on our Q4 numbers. If layoffs are in the plans expect them in late Jan or early Feb before equity grants and bonuses are paid. That way we get the full year benefit of the cost savings and we can sprinkle the equity and bonus savings to the people we want to keep around. It's an annual tradition.
