Does anyone know why Toledo’s leadership is forcing headcount reductions by year end? Seems like it’s an urgent need suddenly to offload 50 to 60 salary folks with no information as to why. Is it a sale ?

So this is true about contractor letters. My former colleague received notification that he will be given the choice to keep his job as a contract employee. The caviat is the salary amount is much less, the health insurance is not nearly the same as cenovus U.S. and so he is trying to negotiate. It seems they told him to take it or leave it.
Some employees getting letters this week that their roles are being outsourced to a 3rd party. HR sending the letters. Very few will be offered a contract role until the transition is complete in a few months. This is managers and individual contributors.
60 to 70 positions to be eliminated and performed by others in the organization, or contract contingent employees. If you don’t have any accountability for turnaround, you are disposable now. If you do, you might be a contractor if you want to. It’s just what refineries do to keep headcount down when they need to sell assets. I’d imagine this has to be done before January or early January.
It’s coming up on a year and a bit since the purchase, time to clear the deadwood.
OP, how confident are you in your source here? I believe 50-60 is ~20% of the salary roles at the site. I don't think a reduction that large even aligns with the Solomon targets?
Finally letting go of useless refinery staff. Hopefully the assets are sold next.
Following. Something happening at the end of next week? Seems very rash.
