Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Your Raise vs CEO and Henchmen Raise

What bothers me the most is the pay gap between workers and the CEO types. How do they justify their pay relative to the worker pay. They always talk benchmarking and that is one KPI I would like them to use. How can a CEO be so much more valuable RELATIVE to the workers? The gap continues to widen.

It would take the average worker 200 years to earn what DW made in a single year.

Economic inequality must be addressed — not as a favor to the poor, but as a necessity for societal stability.

If you do not like the difference between CEO pay and others then fix it and become the CEO. What is the problem? You are welcome for providing the solution.

CEO absolutely drive enormous value… or drive it down. I mean just look at Rex vs Darren - their focus has been much different. Would you not say shareholders have gotten more out of Darren?

And I don’t know what the right compensation is. I would say if public corporations don’t pay enough then highly talented executives will leave to another corporation or just start their own company.

I’m not going to argue if Darren is a good CEO or what they need to get paid, but good and bad CEOs have a huge impact on the stock price. You and me as single contributors, supervisors and managers don’t move the needle that greatly.
