Thread regarding SAP layoffs

How to really get ahead at work

You should forget about hard work. Your boss will just pile on more work, often to cover for others who can’t be bothered. Trust me, I’ve lived it. Instead, focus on playing the office game. Flatter the right people and build connections if you’re serious about that promotion or pay raise. Hard truth, but it works.

you should see what managers are doing in ariba. nobody i talk to thinks the changes are working. my manager doesnt know anything about my team. she just talks like a manager. i gave up. i know two guys have been speaking up but they just keep getting ignored.

managers say that we can reach out any time because thats what they think managers say. they dont mean it. i have never been so down over a job and i had some bad experiences. im looking for a new job.

This is 100% true and it’s proven every day. Also, never, ever outshine your boss, never disagree with him and flatter him at every opportunity. There are 20 year careers at SAP based on this approach. If you want to stay - this is the absolute best advice.

sad but true. it's also more important to su-k up and be liked, over being talented or committed. also, i was encouraged by my manager to not give 110% percent, just to give 80% because $110% was making others look bad. swear this the advice i got from my manager.

Don't forget, work very hard for the IRS and other tax authorities as well. They are very excited to get your money. The more you make, the more they make! they don't want you laid off earning unemployment either!

Who here honestly believes that the layoffs will end in Q1 2025? If there is a stock market crash, I bet you another 9,000 colleagues will be wasted.

Or, you can just change companies and jobs every 2-3 years. You don't work hard to get promoted, you work hard for your next employer. And pocket a fat pay rise in the process.
