Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

5 days a week because they did nothing to those abusing the system

So Corey said that Stankey decided to go minimum 5 days a week ( minimum?? ) because people were not doing what was expected of them. But nothing happened to those folks? So will they be just as nonchalant about those that still don’t listen. Or is that when we go to a minimum of 6 days a week to force compliance?

Minimum = 49 hours = Maximum

Company seems to be trying to sc--w itself.

What I find ironic about him is that he went on and on about Ross and recognized why he was an effective leader, but hadn’t yet figured out that he the complete opposite of Ross.

No one thinks of you like they did Ross. Nobody.

Yea?

He also said people weren’t working 40 hrs a week by using data that only shows in office time on LAN, while he told everyone to only work from the office 3 days a week, so what does that tell you?

Don’t believe ANY of the SPIN leadership says.

We ALL know this is about shedding workforce.
T isn’t making revenue.

JS said from the very beginning regarding RTO some will chose to not take the journey.

He's a millennial.

Haha. That just means that they're bending over backwards to keep him bc they already squeezed out the older guys in his group.

Could be that mngmt knows based on age that they aren’t moving. Also they have knowledge of old systems etc that is still needed a bit longer. Just a guess.

Poor guess. He's a millennial.

“It’s not about abusing the system. Much better run companies than AT&T have already went 5 days rto.”

Dude is so close to getting it, he even said it.
“Much better rub companies than AT&T” - you know what else those are? Much better paying companies.

RTO is not specific to T. It is becoming an industry standard.

He also mentioned making sure you’re working your 40. So, does that mean when I hit 40 I’m done for the week or do I still need to badge in those other 2 days? Does the 40 only count when I’m in the office? We’re talking NEO here, we work way more than 40 per week. Heck I’m at 60 already, so do I not need to go to the office tomorrow? Nothing is going on, but I have to be available should something happen.

In at 7am:

  • social hour / rounds until 8 or 9am
  • coffee and getting ready for the day
  • break
  • a teams call or two
  • more rounds to “collaborate”
  • lunch hour(s) - blame it on not being able to find parking
  • more rounds to “collaborate”
  • little bit of work maybe a Teams call or some jokes in chat
  • COU off and logged out promptly at 4pm

Rinse, repeat.

I can play games, too.

It’s not supposed to make sense because RTO mandate and “How and Where You Work” initiative have nothing to do with efficiency or collaboration. If it did, they would be measuring work output and productivity in great detail and produce reliable reporting to that extent. This 5 day thing was always in the plan and that plan is to reduce domestic headcount and avoid tax penalties on real estate property.

Make it make sense. There was a guy who got put on plan bc he wasn't going in the office: not 3 days...not at all. Told he would be termed if he didn't start goin 5 days when the rest of us were still on 3 days.

After we all got our Wave 3 letters, he and several other people in non-hub cities were granted WFH until they have to report to new hub city next year. Like WTF?

True.
I lied about moving, got FOW, and am working from home.
Wait til all those people who lied about moving end up dropping off…you’re gonna have like 90% attrition.

This is all BS. Stankey wants to make the environment as miserable as possible so he can reduce the work force. All these other excuses is just to deflect from the real purpose.

if that's truly the case then it should have been a conversation with the employee and the supervisor at a 1:1 level not a company wide initiative impacting every employee
