Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Should I or should I not?

Should I accept a offer of employment with Oracle in EMEA or not?

If you need the job and have no other prospects lined up, take it. Be prepared to do a lot of learning, searching and reading on how things work as you will be expected to figure a lot of things out on your own. Things at Oracle work differently than at any other company, a lot of the home grown tools (EMP. OMA, countless others) really su-k. Instead of buying tried and true some geniuses have mandated build rather than buy. Same geniuses don't have to use these products, they are 'exempt'.
If you can figure things out great,if you expect to be hand held, run...

By all means, take it! How could that possibly be a bad decision?

Well, on second thought…….

I worked at Oracle for 10+ years. Two things I learned there....how to attach a signature to my email.....and to always watch my back with people there. The amount of people that would stab you in the back was rampant. The S-talking......even from total dopes.....rampant....managers who were utterly clueless hacks and S talkers...rampant....work thieves...rampant. ....worst career move I ever made....oh and tons of lazy people who want to take credit for work they could and never did. hilaru

these comments are great....it makes me realize how much of a joke most people think working at Oracle is....and well....many that work there.....man...I would legit rip my face off if I had to take the beating of being there in some brutal role...reporting to some bad faced clown or some botox Betty who doesn't know the difference between an API and AP news. It somewhat makes me sick I listened to anyone in the unit I worked. They were all so full of cr-p it was coming out of their ears. They now all remind me of the kids who never made it past t-ball in sports or sat at home making lists of people they would be better than. hahahahhahahahahahhahaha. loserville.

It will be ok for a while, in about 18 months you’ll start to hate it. It always works this way.

Sure, if you are desperate and ok subordinating yourself then accept the job. But can I make a suggestion? If you aren't already then start taking a yoga class or start stretching. You're going to need to be limber enough to grab your ankles during your daily emasculation. HTH

if you have a job that pays less....accept
if you have a job that you hate...accept
if you have a job, but no bennies...accept
if you are working at a competitor, but making less...accept
if you like saying "I am with big strong company"...accept
if you have no job....accept

if you hate big shops and caste system...do not accept
if you hate not getting a raise/promo every year...do not accept
if you hate people who think they have "skills" cause they are fancy emailers or can color an excel tile....do not accept
if you hate dishonest/lazy/shady/snakey people...do not accept (granted they're at every company)
if you hate high falooting sales men yapping...do not accept
