Thread regarding CVS layoffs

About to leave the company was impacted and sent myself some files to personal email.

Got a notice that I have to delete them all etc and send back some legal jargon to that effect. Do I need to worry? What can they do? I am so low level.

Use your cellphone and take pictures of the screen. They monitor and discipline for downloads. They have a legal reason if the download has proprietary or patient information.

You could lose your severance and be fired instead of laid off. They wouldn't have contacted you if you just sent yourself paystubs and performance reviews. Do what they say and hope they feel charitable.

The big question that hasn’t been asked is what kind of files did you send yourself? Like there’s a big difference between sending yourself copies of your paystubs (smart) and sending yourself files that include proprietary company information (d-mb).

You have every right to send your paystub as a PDF to yourself... wtf??

Anything you did while employed is company property. You never keep that or send to you personal email.

Best of luck but if this does not go well mark this as a valuable lesson learned.

Maybe you don’t do anything at work but some of us at this company actually do.

If you invested a great deal of time creating documents for this company that can save you time as a general template that works for you at your next job, then maybe you would understand. Also good practice to keep records in case you need them for a future legal labor claim against CVS. Even if you can’t use them in court, at least you have something to reference to validate timelines, facts, etc. Why let your enemy keep all of the evidence that you created and then just shut yourself out to it when they deem you dispensable?

Why would anyone send files to personal account period? If you wanted to see files as a hourly or salary employee just fu--ing login into your profile mo--ns.

You deserve to be in trouble.

When I left I uploaded all of my docs to a private encrypted cloud that wasn’t blocked by CVS. No nasty notes.

Be smarter next time but definitely keep the files for your records and tell them you deleted them. They won’t do nothin.
