Voluntary retirement? Why would we?

40000 left because of interest rates and retiree insurance being taken away. Now that interest rates are going down and there is no insurance no one wants to leave. This explains why they’re making things uncomfortable on pre Medicare employees. They want us to leave voluntarily. I’m sorry but if your union your better off waiting for interest rates to go down and or getting involuntary severance. If your not then you can’t leave till your 65 or till they just force you out.

The way to get affordable pre-Medicare insurance in retirement is to build up a taxable investment account to live off of in the pre-Medicare years. This way you have very low to no income and qualify for ACA (Obama care).
If all your savings is in IRA's, 401k, and pension, you'll be SOL.

" If you are old and no longer useful, it's time to leave. Don't need workers around that don't know what the internet is."

I am thinking of the "younger" workers on my extended team. Including like the TDP types, etc. The people whose job it is to sort of rotate around and sit on Teams calls. They sit on calls and just don't say or offer anything. Which I get to a point, as they don't know anything. But they also don't seem to be able to or want to reach out to anyone, or make a phone call (gasp!) to learn more about what they are presumably supposed to be learning. I would be glad to work with them if they did.

“They are taking retirement insurance? I’m retired and have had no notice. Guess not a real shocker”

If you’re not in the union you no longer get retiree healthcare. Doesn’t matter when you hired on. The only exception would be the executives VP or higher I believe.

I just don’t get why people that are eligible wouldn’t just take the pension and go do something else for 5-10 years that offers some kind of health benefits. Like seriously why stick around for this miserable place? 5 day RTO, hourly tracking micro management. I’m bouncing as soon as I find something else. I get some people have easy jobs and don’t have to do a lot, so they punch the clock and go home. Others are seriously busting it though.

Some people can afford to pay a couple thousand per month for health care for a few years and don't have to wait for Medicare.

By some he means very few.

If you’re young and no chance of ever being useful, it's time to leave. Don't need workers around that don't know a thing

No way! The largest tax ever implemented fixed all that with Obamacare.

I can’t stand Dummycrats.
