Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

Status of Acquisition as of Today per Mist Man

Based on my conversations with the "White Room" team:

  • The DOJ is concerned about the future of JNPR routing as it feels HPE may divest of the R&D.
  • Wireless is posing a problem and HPE is coming back with a proposal to ensure ongoing competition.
  • DOJ is pushing HPE to spinoff some competing lines of JNPR by putting them up for sale after close.
  • The divestment could mean up to 1,000 JNPR employees going to a 3rd party company.

DOJ wants protections in place because of how previous acquisitions with HPE have gone. Therr are many Government Agencies who use Juniper services and routers. They want to make sure certain things don't get sc--wed up or set aside after the acquisition. The fact that Juniper as a whole will be remaining as a seperate entity as Hpe-Juniper, is promising. But, it is the Givernment and they need Assurances.

Two low to mid tier companies merging does not move the needle. Cisco, Nvidia, and Arista own the market.

And why does the DOJ want protections in place that HPE doesn't acquire and stagnate Juniper products? Juniper is falling behind and it is NOT leading edge as it used to be many years ago.

Can someone please explain why the DOJ cares about the future of JNPR products/technology? Juniper has lots of competition, and even if HPE cancels all of JNPR switches and routers, there are many other great vendors in this market. I doubt that the government cares about JNPR technology. What DOJ cares about is to ensure that there will be no monopoly or prices going up for customers as a result of this acquisition. Combining HPE and JNPR will not create a monopoly. I think that the DOJ will approve the deal.

Actually, DOJ's concern is for Juniper's Assets going forward. HPE does not have a great track record with acquisitions and how they handle them. DOJ seems to want protections in place that HPE doesn't acquire and stagnate the possibilities with Juniper. Supposedly, last week's meeting were to put DOJ fears at rest. Now the question is, is it enough to Apease the DOJ and allow the acquisition to move forward. Time will tell.

It sounds like it could be real, but there is no way to know. It comes down to trust. I want to believe someone is sharing what they know but these statements are so easy to fake.

Trusting the Mist Man is like trusting the late Bernie Madoff with your hedge funds.
