Hearing rumblings that the pension plan will be eliminated mid-January, likely announced at earnings time to attempt to bury the news. This was originallly scheduled for August but had to be delayed. Be prepared.

I googled "Truist pension delays" to see if there are any threads regarding delays in pension benefits. I am a BB&T RIF employee from several years ago (1997), fully vested, who submitted my retirement application 9/26/24 requesting retirement effective 1/1/25. I received a response indicating retirement would be processed for 2/1/25. I returned the benefit selection form on 1/10/25 and on 1/13/25 received an email acknowledging its receipt and advising "I have sent your forms over to be keyed for payment." 2/1/25 came and went.....no deposit in my bank account. I'm advised today: "our payment process moved to Fidelity, and we are in the transition, therefore payments are a little delay(sic). You should receive your payment by the end of March or biggening(sic) of April. You will not lose anything; it will be retroactive." At this point, I have lost something: confidence in Truist. I hope to see my pension soon.

They can’t eliminate it, but they can freeze it like BofA and Wells did. Which means no new participants and no new money added to existing members. It’s sad but it’s not unusual. Trying to save money .
If this was true the company would have a massive walkout of employees.

Remember when the date it was going to be announced was August 8th? I missed the announcement then and will likely miss it again in January.
