Same workload, less people, and some roles completely missing. It makes you wonder if you would be better off if you were laid off.

Try your best to not internalize the struggles. This is not by our doing. Choices made that impacts us without having a say and expecting those remaining to deal with.
Terribly dysfunctional.
This is on them, not us. Let them live with their choices.
Not the same, workload will double. Your life is going to be more miserable than it was.
