Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Fiserv needs to modernize to a Product / UX centric model

The focus is on short-term quick wins - over sell to get the client & then the client funds the solution (that they’ve been told already exists).

And then technology teams struggle to deliver, because Fiserv is a bunch of acquisitions, that were never properly integrated with each other & if they do manage to deliver the solution, it takes months / years and it’s been so customized to the needs of one client that it becomes impossible to scale.

And when clients complain, the customer support organisation are left to deal with the problems.

I’ve seen once great companies acquired by Fiserv become a cog in the wheel and innovation stalls.

I’m not here to bash Frank, but I have strong opinions on this delivery model.

There is little appetite for investment in Products that are UX centric and that can scale globally.

In our modern digital marketplace, with AI accelerating at such a pace, and market disrupters everywhere, how long can this be sustained?!

I’ve worked on countless projects during my time at Fiserv, and it was the same pattern again and again.

And with that comes ALOT of waste…and unhappy clients. And when the numbers don’t add up, then teams get squeezed and layoffs happen.

I’m so sorry to all of you that have been unfairly dismissed at this unfortunate time. I have no more words.

That's always been the sales model industry wide actually. Sell vaporwear, Get them in the door and then figure it out later.

Leave.

You are not wrong. You have correctly identified Fiserv's business model. The problem you are having is you do not realize the the business model is intentional. Failure is the point. They want the products to fail. They want the clients to be upset. They want these things because the clients have to pay a penalty to stop using the products. This extra revenue shows growth on the balance sheet. Their bonus gets bigger when clients leave.

You want to be part of a properly functioning business. Fiserv is not the place for you. Leave.

Need to also start hiring technical people that know what they're doing. Else it really doesn't matter who is in product or ux.
