Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

RTO attrition tactics can also backfire

First to go will be competent and skilled people who can easily find a job elsewhere. Any wholesale attrition tactics primarily cause shedding of a talent. The most persistent will mostly be the ones you actually need to get rid of, because they have fewer or no options. But what I’m on about, as if T actually cares about the retention of people it actually needs.

it should be fun competing for jobs with all the federal workers who will be surplused next year.

Don't kid yourself. Federal employees are not going anywhere. Most of them are union and all they have to do is defer and delay for 4 years until the next guy with big dreams and empty promises shows up. The efficiency thing they are touting is a great idea, but that is all it will ever be.

“I am just sick and tired of being treated like a 2nd class almost illegal when it comes to this.”
You should take a trip to the border and see how your current situation compares.

What if all of this is not some devious conspiracy, and the best path to lower debt is to reduce the size of a footprint, or is everything in your life tied to the most bizarre scenario possible? You know, Occam's razor.

“Police called.”
Both employees should have been walked out permanently. Were these managers?

“I have heard employees already fought, got hurt, police onsite, and that was the 3 day work policy.”
WTF?

Yep, two guys got into it over desk space. Police called. Now we pay police to be onsite every work day. Just another avoidable expense being incurred because ATT leadership is horrible.

I am just sick and tired of being treated like a 2nd class almost illegal when it comes to this. I have heard employees already fought, got hurt, police onsite, and that was the 3 day work policy. I mean, at what point does he get his consequences? These are good people. I know he wants people out, but does it have to be this inhumane?

Job market might be starting to open up now, but it should be fun competing for jobs with all the federal workers who will be surplused next year.

OP is correct. Already interviewing at a couple places. 2 are fully remote roles, 1 is hybrid 2 days in office. Job market is starting to open up. Completely d-mb move by the bosses. Is waiting on that 6 months severance really worth it? I don’t think so.
