Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

....What NOT to say

I know everyone is trying to be "positive" or what have you - but it is a tad rude and insensitive to tell people who just lost their jobs right before the holidays. offered a pi-s poor severance that "the grass is greener" and you are better off.

People - even if FISERV was not the best company - these people had jobs. Now they have to try and find jobs in whaat is an unstable economy. Worried about feeding their family, keeping their homes, paying bills...

The grass is greener when YOU MAKE THE CHOICE. not when it was made w/out any warning for you.

Thank you

This was not performance driven, part of it was a popularity contest. If you were not a yes man and had a brain then you were let go. I for one questioned many lies coming from my VP, my performance was great, my team was happy but I am gone for questioning ignorance.

Anyone who thinks the company has any care about employees is just got blinders on. Gone are the days of companies being loyal to its employees and therefore Employees should Never look out for the best interest of the company and should ensure they are taken care of. Keep resume updated and always be looking to help when situations like these happen.

Fiserv will continue to lay off people, low and high performers, as long as FB runs the place. It will happen many more times between now and right before the holidays next year again. People have a facade that because they are hard working or critical to Fiserv they are safe, until they are not. Xmas season or 4th of July FB does not care, and his wife isn't going to change his mind about your job instead of Jelly of the Month club. No sympathy is warranted for an outcome that is so obvious and for many, eventually inevitable. If ya can't see the writing on the wall, you are foolish or don't have any skills that you can sell yourself on to a better company.

In this economy you will need 100+ interviews and you will be lucky to land 10 interviews.

Having an interview lined up does not yet = a job offer. And in most cases it won’t.

Why is everyone disagreeing with you/this:
“People - even if FISERV was not the best company - these people had jobs. Now they have to try and find jobs in whaat is an unstable economy. Worried about feeding their family, keeping their homes, paying bills...

The grass is greener when YOU MAKE THE CHOICE. not when it was made w/out any warning for you.” This person is sympathizing with people who were let go Especially bc it wasn’t on their own terms. Fiserv su-ks but it was a job.

From an associate standpoint a lot of the folks seemed to be laid off due to performance … poor performance at that … I can only assume that was the trend across the board.

I said what I said. yes - pi-s poor severance. I don't care if "old-timers" got 26 weeks of severance. and do you KNOW HOW MUCH unemployment is? not much. so now you have someone who is ...in their 60s...out looking for work. in this economy??? i know people (in this field and others) who have been looking for jobs for YEARS....

And what about those who only got 8 weeks of severance?

Your attitude of "who cares" and "so what are they getting money" is just as bad as the company that just showed them the door.

And yes - people need to know what is happening - and that the company is run by jerks/a--holes/what have you. but 1 day removed from having the carpet ripped from under you - while the person saying these things -gets up in the morning and goes to the pi-s poor job with the a--hole company and gets their paycheck while others have to sit and wonder -- "What kind of Christmas will my family have" is insensitive.

So easy to pass judgment and say things when YOU are not in their shoes, in their situation, in their home, and in their wallet.

again. i said what i said.

I think the OP is right. I’ve seen folks on LinkedIn who were positive when they got laid off from various companies, then in a blink of an eye 3, 6,, 9 months go by. Then it’s been a year and their severance, unemployment and savings are gone. Losing your job in 2024 is not fun.

That didn't go how you planned

Pi-s poor severance? Old timers get 26 weeks. That is pretty generous considering you can also draw unemployment. And the grass is greener considering some of us already have interviews lined up. Speak for yourself.

Sorry, I disagree with you. People need to hear it and be reminded that this company is run by a bunch of A-holes. It is hard to see people let go but they need to know there are way better companies out there that will actually care for their well being.
