I hate having to search the internet to find out the details of what's happening at my place of work. The leadership should openly tell us what's going on. Just mentioning cuts is not enough. Layoffs su-k, but this secrecy around the whole thing is making things so much worse.

The emotional anxiety is part of the strategy—let’s not ignore this tactic. Make it harder for folks to want to stay, wear them out mentally and emotionally and you’ll get a few more who leave voluntarilly, and in doing so save the company some money.
The fact is, they're not going to. They're not going to show their hand. The perception is that the more info they volunteer, the greater legal liability is.
Hence... the proliferation of NDAs.
It su-ks. You will make yourself fu--ing crazy worrying about it. Trust me. I know. I did. For years. 2019 completely wrecked me, especially since I saw people my age in my board area whom I had worked with for years and whom (I assumed) had similar salaries and comp plans as I did getting impacted. After that I said to myself "Fu-k it". I had burnt myself out working my a-s off to secure my place in the company (and, I guess, with 25+ years of service before it all ended the workingmyassoff thing may have helped) only to realize its a cr-p shoot --- when its your time, its your time. But the story doesn't end there...
Just because SAP doesn't feel it needs you any longer doesn't mean that you are now, suddenly, "unemployable". Quite to the contrary, there are companies out there looking for good people with your experience and your work ethic.
Just hang it there and don't let the ba----ds get you down. In the end, it all works out.
