Let's talk about it.

Frankly, I am tired of 'talking about it' when it comes to potential mergers. It's an ongoing, neverending ride. I would like to get off the rollercoaster, but the entire industry is shaky and it has been for a very long time. Humana always seems to migrate toward the center of the drama. It is a strategic plan in my opinion. I am just happy to have a job for now!

For anyone who thinks the government will block this again, consider that Humana's market cap has shrunk by 43% since the last time they tried this, despite all competitors posting much better numbers. Gee, it's almost as if the company is being kneecapped on purpose so that it can be sold to Cigna.

This potential merger may explain why Chris DeRosa isn’t going to HCSC with the rest of currentCigna MA

This is like U.S. Cellular and Sprint's merger at regional level over a decade ago. Later on, T-Mobile merged with Sprint, and then bought out U.S. Cellular entire business a few months ago. Now, we only have T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon as major mobile service companies in the nation. Do you think health insurance market will go similar route as mobile service providers?

Cigna and Humana are just like U.S. Cellular and Sprint, so they can be purchased by one of top 3 health insurers once their merger's is done. Then, we will only have CVS/Aetna, UnitedHealth, and Elevance Health in the health insurance market eventually.

lol right - before they even let it get back to the govt again. You know what has happened every single time before that?

The only reason it didn't go through last year was Cigna didn't like the price.

Considering the govt has succeeded every single time they’ve “tried to stop it” I’d bet you it would succeed again.

The govt may try to stop it, but that doesn’t mean they’ll succeed. If you’re putting your faith in regulators to stop this merger, I’d think twice. Cigna and Humana leadership wouldn’t pursue this unless they’d thought long and hard on the matter. And if Trump wins then this merger will sail through.

When are yall going to learn that the government is NEVER going to let this happen - do you know how many times they’ve tried ?? Its impossible.

CIGNA not tanked when they announce they might merge with Humana. I think they learn their lesson on that one.

At least Aetna/CVS does not have motivation to buy Humana now. They even fired their CEO to cut down expenses today. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/cvs-health-ceo-karen-lynch-david-joyner/

+ I am a current Cigna Medicare Employee. I just saw a article that talks about the Cigna - Humana merger and decided to come here and see what's going on compared to our Layoff-Cigna drama we got going on our section of this site. Let me tell you this. Watch out for Cigna! Our CEO willingly sold off its entire Medicare business to buy Humana. They have laid off many of us at the end of 2023 and made the entire work culture so bad that many Cigna employees are leaving in droves. Cigna cooperate made lots of poor decisions that led to it's Medicare business not excelling like it expected.

Look at us now... They SOLD US OFF! Many Cigna employees working here many years are now being forced to become HCSC employees come 2025. We are all sold off so they can buy you. This is kinda bittersweet as they are throwing us away, yet rewarding us (Cigna Medicare employees) by giving us a breath of fresh air and opportunity to join HCSC. We all, at the same time are getting away from this very toxic environment and incompetent leadership.

Rather than put in the work to increase it's Medicare footprint, Cigna would rather buy it and throw it's entire "current" division to the wayside. It's not a matter of "IF" but "WHEN" Cigna buys Humana, get ready for a roller-coaster full of cooperate jargon vaporware speak and constant miscommunication with a heavy dose of poor leadership.

Here we go again. So counterproductive. Does anyone even care about members any more?
