“Looks like technology is moving to the point that Mgmt will be able to get granular reports on who is actually being productive.”

Nothing supernatural, it’s just MS Teams.
The telemetry data generated is comprehensive.

  • Make sure you are active during meetings. (speak, ask questions, don’t mute until someone asks you to).
  • MS Teams logs when you are idle regardless of what the status shows.
  • Jiggling the mouse is not enough. You need to launch apps, do keystrokes, do busy work if you are in between activities.
  • If you are one of those jug heads that launch your own meeting so you don’t show as idle on a Friday afternoon, don’t. Reports show participants, duration and your lack of activity within the meeting,
  • The type of Apps you launch and internal websites you visit matter.
  • Your interaction with your peers while working remote is an important measure of engagement. Post on yammer, reply on teams in a timely manner. Bug your friend for no reason.

Looks like technology is moving to the point that Mgmt will be able to get granular reports on who is actually being productive. Not everyone is actually being more productive because they can work in their pajamas. The good old boy network will always be around but bet Stankey won’t care about those relationships if the numbers say otherwise. The 100 million in supposed savings they have uncovered might even include the mouse jiggling that has been talked about.

“Point of this post is to tell you, comparing yourself to others on this page is no longer relevant. We are all in different groups, and going forward, the instructions you receive on when and where to work are being determined at a lower level.”

More accountability is the whole point of presence indicators being added to badging and tracking reports. Bonuses will soon be impacted by adherence to RTO and employees working in expected locations. Higher levels of leadership will be held more accountable for what their employees are doing. Once financial implications come into play, mandates will be enforced more consistently.

Comparing ourselves to others regarding RTO is no longer relevant.

Prior to Covid, individual orgs set their own rules for the amount of days in the office. Leadership above level 2 or 3 did not concern themselves with where people were. I was a FTO forever but was always allowed to work from home. No one cared and this went on for 10 years.

Subsequent to Covid, leadership above level 2 and 3 got involved and pushed everyone back. So I got lumped in with others who just started WFH during covid.

Now we’re returning to how it was prior to Covid. Leadership set their expectations and took a step back. The rules you’re given now are coming from lower in the chain.

My org was told recently that we are fine doing 3 days a week like we have been, while I see old coworker friends who are given completely different expectations.

Point of this post is to tell you, comparing yourself to others on this page is no longer relevant. We are all in different groups, and going forward, the instructions you receive on when and where to work are being determined at a lower level.

Kind of old news, but JPM has been back and forth since late 2020. They're also expanding, so hard to open new branches without people in them.

Almost like BlackRock & the white house are giving orders, impossible!
