Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The CWA of the past is not qualified to represent the CWA of the future.

Yeah, I stole it from another poster, but their statement speaks truth to power.

You could be a told CP manager who works for Stankey. There isn’t any communication about negotiations except an e-mail detailing their open-ended assignment and their only other option is to “quit”. They still have layoff hanging over their heads while working unpaid OT 6 or 7 days a week. Meanwhile, Stankey has flown in the company jet to the next sporting event.

If you represent me, then you work for me, and you need to communicate to me exactly what you are doing on my behalf. Most of the members weighing in on the recent failure to timely communicate the offer from the company are in agreement that procedural changes are needed, as well as more discussion before an election or strike vote. Two-way dialogue, no more of the BAU go along to get along.

I can't speak to their qualifications but there should have been a cooling off period before initiating the Strike vote. Seeing the effort to tweak the emotions of members leading up to the vote made me more than a little uncomfortable. Our circumstances today were created by the language used by our representatives, and cooler heads may have avoided this current situation.

I don't think the CWA has accounted for just how little of a 💩 Gen Z gives about anyone beyond themselves and their small circles. Not a lot of loyalty, and they intend to job hop for any reason or no reason at all. They really don't care if the Boomer brothers get a pension bump or not.

CWA needs to stand up and represent for ALL bargained workers not for only 3/4 of the work groups.

It does resonate. The old dogs aren't keeping up with the new tricks.
