Actual hypercare & stabilization will never end, it will just be declared over … even though all SEC is doing is adding to the pile of tech debt. Folks will pat themselves on the back, and move on, that’s the Nike way. Nobody cares about quality, only checking boxes on status reports. If we became ROI or cost driven (charge problems to where they’re created), would be a lot of teams in serious trouble for the added costs their questionable designs and poorly tested code created. Everything is held together with work arounds, band aides, duck tape and silly putty. Not going to get quality results with how projects are run here - can’t define requirements, reinvent the wheel instead of using base or out-of-the box functionality, biz & tech teams with no idea what the process is that they’re trying to do, testing is worthless, zero version control, … on & on. The chaos is self inflicted. How do you get better if never acknowledge your shortcomings? How do you get better if don’t know what you’re doing? Mantra here is “go code, we’ll get requirements later”. Never —- repeat never —- is time taken to understand what we’re doing, where we’re going, and how to get there.
