CVS is a dying place. Pay is not worth it, there are no real career options, and it feels dilapidated. Job market is bad, the outlook is not rosy, but I’m just done with this place.

if it's that bad - quit?? you aren't guaranteed a severance.
Unfortunately, many good people will be let go. When conducting large layoffs, companies balance WHO is laid off among any "protected class"- race, color, religion, s-x (including pregnancy, s-xual orientation, or gender identity), national origin, age (40 or older), disability and genetic information (including family medical history). This is done to preempt potential litigation.
In practice, this means more than a few of each class will be eliminated, you can't just just layoff a single 62 year old, or one minority. They have to spread this around so no individual can claim they were singled out because they their age, s-xual orientation, disability status etc.
This means that great people will potentially be impacted.
Many good hard working people will be fired while an entire department of DEI Gender Inclusion Warriors will continue to wage war on Gender Expressionist ALT Text and non-binary Face Diaper Friendly image compliance on our company websites. It's unconscionable how much this company lost to gender ideology and Woke-ism. What I would give to just be a pharmacy again. Dispensing dr-gs. RIP CVS
This sounds like just about every employee that isn’t best friends with the executive team.
You say it’s a bad job market yet you want to lose your job. There will be more firings than layoffs so don’t count on getting any kind of severance.
