Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Company ultimatum coming soon?

It appears that the company has been playing chess while the union has been playing parcheesi. They have handed the company the keys to a new method of operation with this strike.
The company’s plan to finally reorganize and shed massive numbers of payroll employees is possibly coming to fruition as we speak.
I suspect that we will soon see the company close the door on the bargaining process and begin implementing their plans to revamp the labor force in the SE, both craft and management.
Hopefully that isn’t true, but time will only tell. Hopefully an agreement will be reached soon and business will go back to normal.
The rallying cry of More in 24’ may end up with us all getting a whole lot less and sitting in quite a mess for the foreseeable future.

This is a ULP action.

Oh no! Not the schoolyard defense. "Its not fair! Its not fair!" Billy took my ball!

Just because the company isnt agreeing to your demands doesn't mean they are bargaining unfairly. It just means they said No. That's why its called bargaining...both sides have to give a little. You're not going to get everything you want and neither will the company. Hopefully everyone can find common ground so we can stay in business for the long term and finally retire to enjoy life before we kick it.

AT&T may be playing chess, but they already lost a lot of pawns, both bishops, a knight, a rook, the queen and the king is cornered by a parchese piece and a bottle cap.

The sky is falling! A little over dramatic, take a chill pill. They can’t stop collective bargaining or lock out, educate yourself on the NLRA of 1935. This is a ULP action. How many times does it have to be posted? Once the company uses an authorized representative who knows the contract and signs off on proposals then the union will return to work. The stalling tactics are about to stop when D9 has ratified their contract which the votes will be counted tomorrow Sep 6.

The company as a whole is going through a transformation from older copper technology to fiber/wireless network and products. These negotiators have no bearing on that, the ones who need to be concerned is managers especially, those who WFH because the company is contracting and off shoring those positions as fast as possible. Meanwhile, there is still a lot of work to decommission and remove all the old systems and facilities.

The fiber network still has a long way to go before being built, equipment needs upgraded and it all needs to be supported and maintained. The company just signed two recent contracts with Ericsson for O-Ran/wireless and Nokia for fiber equipment like Litespan MF-14 and MF-2 to upgrade the PON speeds, smart cities, loT, reduce power consumption, interoperability, etc.. it will require a skilled, hands-on, labor force to complete all these tasks.

I heard they had management deflating footballs and have all Frozen characters in solitary confinement. Alas a new strategy!
