Thread regarding Kyndryl layoffs

Deception x5

1st deception: After accepting a job offer from IBM in 2019, I was informed one week before my start date that I was actually “LTS” (long term supplemental) status (i.e a 3 year contractor) and not FTE status (which was negotiated during the hiring process). This was after I told my other employment offer that I was proudly joining IBM. I was assured I would be converted to full time status within the first year.
Deception 2: IBM split off kyndryl 5 months after I joined IBM and I was now with kyndryl. My hiring managers knew about this when I was hired but purposely withheld that “detail” from me.
Deception 3: Every year, after receiving top performance reviews, I would formally ask my line management about my LTS conversion to FTE. I was assured it would happen but “out of cycle” (this happened for 3 years). I continued to work with top revenue clients whose trust I earned.
Deception 4: 2 months before my LTS “contract” was up, my line management informed me that the conversation paperwork was submitted.
Deception 5: 2 weeks after that, kyndryl reorganized my team under a new Director who advised me a week later that due to “cost cutting measures”, I would be terminated at the completion of my 3 year LTS “contract”
My case speaks for itself. The levels of deception and hypocrisy at kyndryl with their own employees is immense.

Kyndryl is so gross. I also started around the IBM > Kyndryl transition time as a Business Development Executive. I didn't last long. What a mess. Managment (JG) was very sleazy. Made women cry. Never experienced anything like it. 97

I think we all at one point or another, have had issues of service from procurement. I think that department just has a lot of IBM rollovers that are not worth their salt. Kyndryl should just purge those lack luster IBM'ers they are just coasting til retirement.

I have had that same problem a on a few occasions myself. It really is painful interacting with that department ( procurement ). Some professionalism would be nice. I would not go so far as to say flush the whole department. I would say a refresher course in office decorum and etiquette be imposed.

The procurement department needs to be flushed. That department should totally be outsourced. They are a bunch of overpaid middle men. Getting them to answer a phone call or respond to an e-mail in a timely manner. It seems to be asking to much of them. When I do deal with our outside procurement people, they respond quickly.

IBM was definitely being sleazy, but let me ask you one question:

Why did you go along with it?

There's no need to answer the question, let me answer it for you...you went along with it because you accepted the situation and thought it would change. You, like IBM and now Kyndryl management, suffer from a common condition called WISHFUL THINKING. Everyone tells each other that the yellow stuff falling on their heads is fresh raindrops, when it is blatantly obvious that it is not. The management in both firms was either deceptive, or they were making offers thinking that business reality would not reassert itself.

They, and you, made the wrong bet. Next time, do not deceive yourself, and do not let them deceive you. Neither IBM nor Kyndryl deserves the benefit of any doubt at this point, for they have a track record that you can see. If the employer doesn't meet the terms of its agreements, then don't start working for them thinking that their practices will change. As you can see, they won't.

Keep your business partners (which is really what they are) on a very short leash.
