Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Both my manager and team are horrible

I’ve been trying to train myself not to pay attention and just do my work. It’s impossible. Manager breathes down my neck all the time (and everybody else’s), while the team is a bunch of backstabbers and su-kups. I tried to move elsewhere, but without manager support it’s near impossible. How are you dealing with similar situations?

I’m in the opposite scenario as you but my team lead is sometimes questionable in terms of operation.
Tried to move on up to a different department but one of the positions ended up going to an individual who I am fully aware that tries to do what they can to avoid doing work.
You can have a great work ethic, follow all the rules, and you end up getting just get a thank you with some food on rare occasions.
I deal with account management, for reference. Guess I am stuck here until I look elsewhere that is not Purple.

My situation was that my team lead (who I reported to) was being really inappropriate with me. Breathing down my neck etc. she also engaged in gossip with my coworkers; mind you this is an almost 60 year old woman. The final straw was when she berated me then thought it was appropriate to massage my shoulders to “calm me down”. I was ready to have a meeting with her boss and thank god I ended up quitting the next day because I found a job that wanted me immediately.

OP, if you aren’t comfortable discussing this with your manager’s manager and don’t have documented evidence of her breathing down your neck and or managing inappropriately, start looking else where. Knowing how Truist and many big companies are, if you complain without proof they’ll just throw you back under the bus.

I was a Commercial Client Specialist working 4 days in office 1 day remote.

When it’s this bad it’s best to take care and find another job complaining on a website will not change your situation

I’m in the same situation and it’s frustrating. Our area leader is a complete nightmare with her favorites and those who she doesn’t like. She’ll completely ignore and isolate top performers who say things for how they are and she’ll elevate and include people who kiss ar-e and don’t challenge the narrative when things aren’t being done on the up and up. She’ll make different house rules for you compared to her heritage people and she’ll only recognize and ask for participation by her favorites. If you try to go somewhere she’ll make up stories to other managers within the bank so she can hold you back and keep your performance because all the sudden she’s concerned about retention figures. I cope with it, by knowing that I’ll eventually be able to leave Truist or I also have unrealistic hopes that managers like these will be pushed out. I’m learning that these managers all stick together and don’t care about anything anyone has to say or contribute, don’t get in their way minion is the reality I’m finding since I joined Truist recently. No one seems to be happy, the recruiters sold me a lie and now I’m stuck having to interview all over again.

Ignore the su-k-it-up comment, we are all human and life gets hard sometimes. It's hard to work in that atmosphere...(my guess is you work in a branch) if possible in your area look for something back office. Managers are supposed to support you moving to a new position to advance your career.

You're so soft. Su-k it up and learn to deal with it. As it turns out, that can happen just about anywhere.

Weak....
