We have been focusing on all the wrong things instead of what we're good at and what were always our main money-makers. What has to happen for the company to realize that we need to return to our roots? I'm not holding my breath that It'll happen any time soon.

“We also need a culture shift at the top that stops us from getting back into this mess by promoting people with skills and leadership talent instead of those that just talk a good game to their leader.”
This is so incredibly accurate. It’s so depressing that this is what “leaders” have become at Nike.
Do you remember the awkward fireside chat?
PK looks JD in the eye and says " the only reason you are CEO is because I am too old!"
Awkward silence with JD just smiling back
We need more than JD gone. We need a wholesale cleaning of VPs, some who are newer to Nike but also some that have been here a long time and have not done anything to move us out of this over the last four year. We also need a culture shift at the top that stops us from getting back into this mess by promoting people with skills and leadership talent instead of those that just talk a good game to their leader.
Ironically, PK is the one preventing Nike from returning to its roots. Despite my respect for the empire he built, I don’t see anything changing for the better until he relinquishes control. If PK wanted JD gone, he would be.
